On March 31st, 2023, Kentucky saw big progress, as Andy Beshear, a member of the Democratic party, signed the bill regarding medical cannabis. This has made Kentucky the 38th state to adopt this law of legal access to medical marijuana. The House of Representatives in Kentucky fully approved SB 47 by 66-33 on March 30, 2023.

The final rule for opening medical marijuana dispensaries is still expected to be out before July 2024. After that, The products will become available for sale by the first week of January 2025. However, this would not include smoking raw cannabis, and only vaporization of raw marijuana is allowed as provided by SB 47.
